Cutie Patootie
Jane and I just fell in love with this nine-week-old basset hound puppy at the dog park last week. For several days now, I’ve been thinking Wouldn’t it be fun to have a puppy again? But then I did some research… apparently Bassets are notoriously hard to house break, and fairly hard to train in general. Wishful thinking… crushed.
Anyway, I thought the puppy (and the lady holding it) were just too cute to pass up a photo. 🙂 Click on it for a larger image.
I Can’t Imagine… I Don’t Know… How Did… What?!?!
First, the silly, silly moose. Now this.
New Bowling Ball
After months of having my middle finger in pretty bad pain from trying to bowl with my old ball, I finally caved today and bought a new one. It’s just like the one shown in the picture, but it’s actually darker purples and teals than this photo shows.
I’ve had the same bowling ball for 20+ years. It was one I got at K-mart, right after I moved to B’ham. Apparently (according to the ball driller today), the span between my thumb hole and my middle finger hole were too far apart. For the last several years, I’ve had to tape up my middle finger, so that the downward pull on it when I released would not hurt so much. I put a lot of speed into my delivery, so even though I only have a 10 lb. ball, it has a quite a bit of momentum when it leaves my hand. For years, the tape was enough to prevent injury, but since I’ve been bowling with this league, it has been injurious to the point of being bruised purple the day after bowling and being sore all week long. Canine Joy
Well, I finally took old Scouty-boy to the dog park this afternoon. It was the first time in his whole life that he’s ever been off the leash and not in a yard at the same time. (Birmingham didn’t have tons of dog parks like Atlanta does…at least not that I’m aware of). (Addition: After I wrote that I googled “Birmingham AL dog parks” and only two came up. I know both of these places, and neither of them have fences. I don’t really consider that a dog park!)
Anyway, I was a bit nervous, because Scout can get his hackles up in a hurry, but for the most part, he’s pretty calm. I was just hoping it was the calm Scout that would show up today. And I purposely remained relax as we walked to the gate, so that he wouldn’t pick up on my anxiety about the whole thing. Read the rest of this entry »
What to Do…What to Do…
Life has been good these past three days.
i have no idea what to write about.
Y’all, feel free to start a topic…Talk amongst yourselves…any topic will do.
Easter
Here’s a presentation I put together for church. It’s the first time I’ve really used iMovie to put anything together, and I was in a hurry, but I think it came off pretty well. This song is my favorite from Sandi Patti, and it’s a good think because in editing this, I must have heard it a couple of hundred times. 🙂
The format is an mp4, so you’ll need QuickTime to play it. Enjoy.
Bless Their Little Hearts
This is a sweet story about some Atlanta Girl Scouts sending cookies to the troops, letting them know they are not forgotten.
Were any of you in Girl/Boy Scouts? If so, what was one of the most memorable projects in which you participated?
(I was not a GS, so I have no tales to tell.)
Client 9, Your Table is Ready
Well, since my post on vegetarianism created such a great back and forth, I thought I’d throw out something that really ought to get the pot stirred up. But then again, maybe not. 🙂
As you all probably know, the (former) governor of New York, Eliot Spitzer, resigned his office after it was revealed he’d paid for a high-price call girl, and was known to her as “Client 9.”
Let’s forget for a moment whether or not he used any state funds to get his party started. I haven’t read all the salacious details, so I don’t know if that’s part of the allegation yet or not. And let’s put aside that he’s committed adultery and disappointed his family and constituents. Read the rest of this entry »
CowTippers and Vegetarianism
Well, I went to CowTippers for the first time last night. Apparently, it’s quiet the “rite of passage” when you’re living in Atlanta. I really enjoyed it!
First, the company was enjoyable (a birthday group for a friend from church), the staff were all wackily dressed for St. Patrick’s day. We were the first “large party” for a new waitress, but she did very well, and we made sure to tell her manager so. Read the rest of this entry »
Five Questions
(Again from RevGalPal’s blog)
1. If you could travel to any historical time period, which would it be, and why?
2. What futuristic/science fiction development would you most like to see?
3. Which do you enjoy more: remembering the past, or dreaming for the future?
4. What do you find most memorable about this year’s Lent?
5. How will you spend your time during this upcoming Holy Week? What part do you look forward to most? Read the rest of this entry »
