I Bought One

with 7 comments

I got the Pontiac Vibe GT, the twin sister of the Toyota Matrix. The Vibe was made in Fremont, CA at the Toyota/GM’s joint venture assembly plant. So it’s got American styling and Japanese engineering…what more could you ask for?! ūüôā I’m hoping it’s a good choice.

Another Great Olympic Story

Somalia’s runners provide inspiration

BEIJING ‚ÄstSamia Yusuf Omar¬†headed back to¬†SomaliaSunday, returning to the small two-room house in Mogadishu shared by seven family members. Her mother lives there, selling fruits and vegetables. This is the Olympic story we never heard.

Sunday Question

with 4 comments

I was looking at a “Things to do in Georgia” Web site today, and also ordered some information from AAA about Georgia and South Carolina.

My question: What is at least one thing you would like for the blog family to do together this year (not this calendar year, but within 12 months from now)?

I would definitely like for us to go back to the Cobb County Fair. That, for me, is the event where I felt like we first started pulling together as a group of friends who enjoyed hanging out together. I’d really like to go back and enjoy it again this year. As far as new things, I’d love for us to go somewhere none of us have ever been for a weekend, rent a cabin/house, play games, take photos, see sites. I think it would be great fun.

Poor Colin

with one comment

I don’t know if y’all have been following the story about Colin, the baby humpback whale who was apparently abandoned by his mother. He was nuzzling up to yachts in Sydney harbor, trying to nurse. While the whole thing sadly ended with Colin being euthanized, it’s amazing to me how people (including myself) can get caught up in something like this that’s occurring half a world away. There are wars raging, people starving, kids shooting each other at school, tropical storms flooding Florida, and I keep checking for updates on Colin. Read the rest of this entry »

What Month is This?

with 4 comments

Oy. I had no intention to stay away from blogging so long! I have had some interesting things going on my life–some I want to share, some I don’t–so I can’t believe I’ve waited so long to write something! Oh well, I’ll try to do better.

Anyway, what’s compelling me to write is that I want to share some good news. I got another promotion today at work, and a nice raise. I’m now manager of the entire Creative Team. I’m moving into a much more administrative position, rather than creative. As a matter of fact, the creative part was listed in my job description as more of “and you’ll be doing some of this too” kind of thing. I’ll be working closely with the VP of Marketing to establish production schedules, assign jobs, keep people on task, on schedule, and within budget. I think I’ll be doing enough design to keep me interested. We’ll see. Read the rest of this entry »
