Cutie Patootie

with 7 comments

jane-and-friend.jpgJane and I just fell in love with this nine-week-old basset hound puppy at the dog park last week. For several days now, I’ve been thinking Wouldn’t it be fun to have a puppy again? But then I did some research… apparently Bassets are notoriously hard to house break, and fairly hard to train in general. Wishful thinking… crushed.

Anyway, I thought the puppy (and the lady holding it) were just too cute to pass up a photo. 🙂 Click on it for a larger image.

  1. Cute indeed. For what it’s worth, though, I’ve been told that Boxer puppies are much easier to train and housebreak, and are equally as cute. I could hook you up with a good Boxer rescue group that’s just getting started…

  4. Awwwwwww… 🙂

Cats are even easier to housebreak….they sorta come that way. At least all the ones I’ve had, thank goodness.
The training part, I gotta admit, dogs rule there. There’s no training a cat. On the other hand, they don’t seem to need it as much. Or maybe that’s what us cat people have rationalized to make ourselves feel better.

Uh, why is it that I think Boxers are cuter, smarter, and better than any other kind of dog? It’s like I have some kinda post-hypnotic suggestion. Boxerrrrsss—-cuuuuute—-mussssttttt —haaave—- Boxerrrrrr……:)

  5. Do not let that adorable face fool you! That is a little indoor poop machine and water fountain. The first night you bring him home, you will hear a stream and think, “Did I leave the water on?” But it will be your indoor fountain. He will also generate poopy on your carpet so that when you come home Eau de Poop hits you in the face as soon as you walk in the door. Then, you will have to buy a Bissell, and you will consider buying stock in Nature’s Miracle. And you will finally get over his being so cute, but it will be too late. You’ve made a commitment to cuteness over reason, and now you’re the poop machine’s mommy.

    Go with the cat.
