Bless Their Little Hearts

with 4 comments

This is a sweet story about some Atlanta Girl Scouts sending cookies to the troops, letting them know they are not forgotten.

Were any of you in Girl/Boy Scouts? If so, what was one of the most memorable projects in which you participated?

(I was not a GS, so I have no tales to tell.)

  1. I was a Boy Scout in Miami. My troop leader was a biologist, so most of our projects tended to be environmental. We did a lot of camp and park restoration projects, which was perfectly fine with me because I loved being outdoors. One of the neat things we did was to restore a camp site called Greynolds Park. What was neat for me was that this was a camp site that had been regularly used by my sister’s Girl Scout troop many years before. My mom was her troop leader, so I naturally tagged along on camping trips. I remembered those camp sites vividly, but had no idea where it was. During the Boy Scout project, I kept getting lots of “deja vu” moments. I finally mentioned something to my mom, and she reminded me of the many Girl Scout camp-outs there. And all of a sudden, everything clicked! After we were done restoring the site, our troop was given priority from the County for reserving the site for camping.

    Thanks for the laugh, Cheryl.

  3. I was a sweet little Brownie one day, a long, long time ago 🙂
Yep, did the Girl Scout thing. I enjoyed it but I was painfully shy at the time. How I wish I had jumped in with more gusto. Loved the badges. Loved summer camp 😀

  4. I was a Brownie and a Girl Scout. I remember working for the merit badges and camping, but that’s about it. I honestly don’t remember selling a single box of cookies though. I guess I did, but I don’t remember it.
