Five Things
I’ve decided to stop my Thursday Free for Alls because no one was commenting. Oh well.
Instead, at no specific intervals nor importance, I’m going to post things about me that people might not know.
1) I won the John Philip Sousa award in high school band for best musician. I was drum captain for three years in a row, which, to my knowledge, had not happened before. I have no idea if it’s happened since.
2) I had a freelance job with the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail in Alabama that required me to walk and “draw” every hole on their 18-hole courses. I later turned these drawings into illustrations that were used as hole cards attached to the golf carts. The cards showed distance from tee to greens, green slopes, hazards, etc.
3) I thoroughly enjoy sleight-of-hand tricks, and as a younger woman, used to be pretty good at several of them; however, like most other things, if you don’t practice and stay on top of it, you lose the ability to perform well.
4) My very first job (that I was paid for, not that I had to pay tax on) was in my Aunt Eva’s beauty shop in Tallassee, AL. I swept floors, mixed solutions, cleaned up curlers, dusted the counters, monitored the ladies’ hair dryers, etc.
5) I’ve owned 11 computers since 1994, (still have four, one being a non-functional laptop). I “upgrade” about every two years. So far, only one of the computers has gone screwy on me—the afore-mentioned laptop. Macs rule!!!
I love this post! It’s cool to know this stuff about you. 🙂 I want to see a trick! I once had to draw every chair in the Fox Theatre. I still have five computers, one being a non-functional laptop. That laptop is the one and only PC I have ever owned. The macs are all still going strong!

Fun post. Thank you for sharing. I’m not sure if I could determine the number of computers I have owned, and I doubt it was as many as you have owned.
For some reason my computer had been having trouble accessing a great number of blogs of late and this is the first time in a number of weeks I have been able to get to your blog. I enjoyed interacting over at Ants Marching (i think that is where we wrote).

Hey Bryan!
That’s weird about your being blocked. Glad you’re here now. 🙂
And I always enjoy when I run across your posts. I see you in several places…Jesus Creed, Ants Marching (which I don’t visit on a regular basis like I do some), SBC Outpost, and Wade Burleson’s blog (can’t remember the name). As a matter of fact, I was the Cheryl who was posting as “Anonynmous” a few days ago on Wade’s blog. I was talking about how sad it made me to see the Southern Baptists (and all Christians, really) wrangling over this and that and this and that while the world suffers. You had some good things to say, and I appreciated it.
Are you as “calm” in person as you are on a blog? I imagine you as someone who would have made a good counselor/psychologist. 🙂
I haven’t posted anything in the last few days because I’m so busy with work, but keep checking back. Hopefully, you’ll find something worth reading soon.
Take care.
