Frankie Say, RELAX!
I have had one of the most relaxing, all-around enjoyable weekends, I’ve had in a long time. First of all, I enjoy the weather this time of year so much…most of the pollen is gone, the rain often comes without storms, the days are warm and the nights are pleasantly cool. The dusk, when there’re still so many shades of blue-to-dark blue behind the suddenly visible stars, is my very favorite part of these days. Read the rest of this entry »
Taps and Traps
Best female tapdancer ever with the best drummer ever. I love this stuff. (Fast forward through the song to where she tapdances if you find it boring to begin with.
Blowing My Own Horn
I won’t go into detail about the events of my day today like I did with Laura and Jane (poor them
, but today had a nice surprise in it. I got called into my boss’s office, and we discussed some things we’d touched on a few times in the past several days, things concerning how our Creative Marketing department is going, what’s coming down the pike, her vision for the department, etc. Read the rest of this entry »
I Know What I’ll Be Doing the Next Few Evenings
It’s always dangerous for my check book/card when I go into a book store. Today was no different. I didn’t buy anything outrageously priced, but I did buy two books more than I intended.
One I was just thrilled to find. My favorite author, Robert McCammon, has written a second book since coming out of retirement a few years ago. This book, The Queen of Bedlam, follows the same main character from his last book, the fabulous Spake the Nightbird. Both of them are long books (this one is 645 pages), but I love that because I enjoy his writing so much, I rarely want them to end. Spake the Nightbird was about a woman being accused of being a witch in the late 1600’s in the outer banks area of what would become South Carolina. Read the rest of this entry »
Going to the Doctor
When it comes to going to the doctor, unless there is blood a-gushin’, I’ve always HATED having to go. Honestly, I think a lot of them just throw medications at you in hopes they have guessed at the right cause of the ailment. (I remember reading a quote somewhere that read: Fifty percent of all doctors graduated in the lower half of their class. Of course, that can be said of any profession requiring college degrees, but with doctors, that obvious statistic seems a bit more ominous for the patient.) Read the rest of this entry »
Movin’ On
Again, not my questions, but I thought I’d ask them anyway. (And you wiseacres, this is not talking about “moving” like rolling off the couch.
1. How many times have you moved? When was the last time?
2. What do you love and hate about moving?
3. Do you do it yourself or hire movers?
4. Advice for surviving and thriving during a move?
5. Are you in the middle of any inner moves, if not outer ones?
Bonus: Share a piece of music/poetry/film/book that expresses something about what moving means to you. Read the rest of this entry »
Playing Around with Chickens
I’ve been fooling around with the new software I got, and I was just testing the multitude of different controls. Somehow the combination ended up resulting in this look…reminiscent of hand-tinted old postcards. Click for larger, detailed pic.
These are chickens my dad used to have. The rooster was especially handsome.
Just thought I’d share. No need to comment.
Welcome, Spring! Welcome!
Sunday Question
Just for you, Laura…
Right now, I’m watching/recording “King,” a documentary about MLK, on the History Channel.
Of course, I have absolutely no idea (outside the prejudice I experience as a lesbian) of what it is like to have to live in the skin of one subject to oppression and prejudice. Often, I’ve sought to understand it, but I don’t think there really is a way to walk in the shoes of others sometimes. Read the rest of this entry »
April Fool’s Clean Up
Okay, after the dust has settled and the coast is clear. After totally falling for Carmen’s post about ferrets and just for a second thinking Laura’s getting married…, I’m ready to hear your stories.
What the best April Fool’s joke that you’ve pulled or had pulled on you…or share both! Read the rest of this entry »
