Good Grief
Sometimes, I am overwhelmed by the cuteness of little animals.
For those of you who are late to my blog, I am very fond of cuteoverload.com. It’s where I see a lot of the animal videos I post here, but also where I get a lot of my pet vocabulary (i.e. snorgling, redonkulous, squee, tocks, etc.). And the blog author has a FABULOUS sense of humor, so the captions are often as captivating as the photos. Check it out when you want to smile.
A Quick Random Thought
Before I shuffle off to bed, I wanted to post a thought I had today at lunch. Carmen told me I should write this, and I do whatever she says, so here it is.
I was sitting at a traffic light after lunch today, and was noticing all the different models of cars around me. It struck me as funny that you just know that the CEO of the Kia corporation wants to drive a sporty, expensive European car. But in order not to send the wrong message to Kia customers, I’m sure he just gets the top-of-the-line KIA. (hehehe) (I have nothing against Kias. I have no idea if they’re “good” cars or not, but relatively speaking, you KNOW they aren’t a Porsche or Mercedes.)
Your Thoughts?
I have no idea what led me to this line of thinking this evening, but here’s where I wound up… what would I do if, say tomorrow, I woke up, and there had either been a terrorist attack or natural disaster on such an unprecedented scale that all power was out globally and indefinitely.
How would food get to market? How would banking get done? Work? Travel? (Since gas has to be pumped, it might be available, but very hard to access.) Healthcare? And on and on and on. And then imagine the ripple effects… lost jobs, manufacturing grinds to a halt, no money, little to no essential goverment services/protection. Read the rest of this entry »
My Personal DNA
This was an interesting quiz. I pretty much agree with the results, compared to how I see myself… an “animated leader.”
If you take the test, please let me know your results. I’d be interested to know.
Let the Silliness Begin!! (Whatcha gon do? Woo woo woo woo!)
Now THAT’s an Accurate Cat Scan
I don’t know whether to chuckle at this story or not. (Okay, yes I do. I chuckled. I can just picture the looks on the patients’ faces when Oscar jumps on their bed to “cuddle.” My favorite part was the author of the story calling him “the furry grim reaper.”)
Oscar the cat seems to have an uncanny knack for predicting when nursing home patients are going to die, by curling up next to them during their final hours. His accuracy, observed in 25 cases, has led the staff to call family members once he has chosen someone. It usually means they have less than four hours to live. More of story
Four-Legged Hero Passes On
Sweet story. I thought it needed to be put up to counter all the negative energy around Michael Vick.
Something’s Fishy
UPDATE: I think my suspicions may have been misplaced. As I’ve read more, it seems the father had been beaten pretty badly, tied up, and left in the basement while the scum had their way with the women…their intention being to just let him burn to death. Apparently, the doctor was lucky to escape the flames. Based on this additional information, while I think it’s still a horrific happening, somehow in my mind, it’s better to believe that the father did not do this to his own family.
________
I’m posting this here because I think there’s more to the story about the home invasion/arson story in Connecticut than we’re hearing right now. Read the rest of this entry »

Random Thoughts on a Wenzday
I spelled Wednesday phonetically because there’s only one person I know who actually sounds it with three syllables… one of my bosses at work. He’s from Jamaica, and has a deep baritone voice, and just enough of the islands in his accent to know that he’s from outside the contiguous U.S. It amuses me when he says “Wen-nes-day.” (And have you ever wondered why the word “phonetic” isn’t spelled like it sounds?)
