Some Posts Have Moved
Due to the sensitivity of a couple of recents posts. I have moved them. If you came here looking for something specific about gay issues, you can request that I give it to you in the comments section below. Of course, you’ll have to provide your email address to me. Or if you know me, you can send a request to my home email.
Thanks for understanding.
Blogging Conundrum
I’m at the point that I find myself almost every day. I have lots of thoughts—most of it just random observations; some of it weighty issues of life—and little time to put it into words. At least, in a way that would be meaningful to others.
Have any of your ever “almost” been in a car accident? It’s amazing how in a split second, you can check your rearview mirror, brace yourself, use your peripheral vision, press the brake, and so on and so forth, and still manage to avoid the accident! Many times, my thoughts are like that. I’ll have an issue of, say, “faith and doubt” in my head, and in a few moments, I can extrapolate all sorts of angles, arguments, problems, and solutions. Some of what I end up with feels like I want to share it. But trying to go back and retrieve the thoughts and connect the dots again feels overwhelming and somewhat impossible. I’ve often wondered if other people think “in a flash” like that. Read the rest of this entry »
Day at the Zoo
Dianne, Cara, and I went to Zoo Atlanta yesterday. We’d heard that you have to get there early if you want to even have a chance to see the new panda cub. So we changed from our original time of meeting at 10:00 to meeting at 9:00.
It’s below freezing when we get there; we all admit to wearing long underwear (and thank goodness we did!), and so we hurry our bundled-up selves all the way across the zoo to where the pandas are. And sure enough, there’s Mei Lan, outside with her mother, Lun Lun. She’s only out for about 10 minutes, but at least we got to see her. Dianne shot some video, but I can’t upload it here. Instead, here’s one of the many still shots that she took.
Most of the other animals chose to stay inside where it was warm. I couldn’t help but shake the feeling that WE were the ones on display…with the animals staring at us crazy humans from their warm dens and such.
Anyway, it was a fun morning, despite the cold. I look forward to spring when Mei Lan is a little older and the weather’s a little nicer. You can check Mei Lan out on the panda cam from 10:00-5:00 Monday thru Friday.
Time for a Change
New year, new look. I’m gonna try this look for a while and see what I think about it. Let me know if you like it… or not.
Three Goals for 2007
I thought I’d put them in writing for the world to see… sort of an online accountability. I find it’s easier for me to take my goals more seriously if I put them out there, knowing that someone else knows what they are. I know, I know, it’s the extrovert in me. Read the rest of this entry »
Remembering Sisa
Today is the 35th anniversary of my sister’s death. Hard to believe it’s been that long. Read the rest of this entry »
Five Things
I’ve decided to stop my Thursday Free for Alls because no one was commenting. Oh well.
Instead, at no specific intervals nor importance, I’m going to post things about me that people might not know. Read the rest of this entry »
Some Pics to Share
I haven’t really made this a “resolution,” but I do want to try to get into more of a practice of posting pics along with my posts (or instead of a post
.
Of course, what I see when I work with these in PhotoShop, and what you as a viewer with a different computer and different browser with different color settings may not see anything like what I’m seeing. For example, the sunset picture below has vibrant colors on the horizon. If it looks bland on yours, I don’t want you wondering, Why did Cheryl post such a crappy picture?
And as always, you can click on the photos to see a larger image.
This one is a photo I took on in Tallassee on Christmas Day as Sherrie and I were headed back to Atlanta.
And this one I took outside our front door today at sunset. I was retrieving a package from the front steps and saw the sunset. Thought it was too pretty to pass up.
The Goal in Iraq
How can you know if you’re “successful” if your goals keep changing?!? Here are the goals, in the order that I heard them:
• Pre-emptive strike to prevent an imminent use of weapons of mass destruction directed at the U.S. by Sadaam Hussein’s government
(No weapons found yet)
Troops* still there. Read the rest of this entry »
Guitar GitDown
Wow! Having purchased a guitar a couple of weeks ago, and working my way through the Hal Leonard books and the pain of building up finger callouses, I have to say I’m am SOO impressed with this guy! Check him out.
